Not everyone, just 72% plus another 5% that only wants single payer. The only thing wrong with what is there is that they bargained away many key points and brought down the numbers to close to 50-50. The key thing wrong with the republicant is not only his stand on health-care, nor that fact that he voted against providing medical care to first care providers who bravely responded to the 911 tragedy (one of only 3 congressmen to do so). It is that he is a tea-bagger which could speed the demise of the republican party. z

I guess you haven’t watched or read any media except Fox News.
All of the media outlets, even liberal MSNBC are quoting polls that show the American people are about evenly split on this health care bill.

The current system is unsustainable, with costs doubling in the last 7 years.
The cost curb must be bent, or else the deficit will continue to rise.

When you say "the media" who are you referring to?
It really annoys me when "the media" is lumped together like that. There are media outlets that are very balanced. There are media outlets that lean too far in EITHER direction as well. I’m pretty sure that if you tune into Fox News tonight you won’t hear them trumpeting Obama’s health care ideas.
Newspapers, radio news, and TV news have the same one true job, to report the news. If they are reporting that most people want Obama’s health care plan, then you have to be open to the possibility that maybe most people want Obama’s health care plan. I don’t agree with it, but he did get elected by a majority vote and this country’s still a democracy.

The health care bill we got is so far from what was wanted and needed that Dems don’t like it either.
In fact, its pitifully close to what Republicans were looking for.
The biggest, simplest proof of what I’m saying is the fact that shares in Health insurance companies have risen, and the noise from them has quieted. They know this bill does nothing much to help people, indeed, has probably only done what they would have had to do themselves as they had priced themeselves out of the market in the current downturn.
So no one wins this one, not the Dems, who will lose next time out, not the one term Reps getting elected now.
Just the insurance companies, as usual.
